Erika Dorsen comes from a musical family. Her mom, Akiko Kanno, began teaching Erika to play the piano at the age of 5. Her mother provided classical training to Erika. Both in high school and college years, Erika won multiple awards and competitions for music performance. She was later trained by Mr. William Knight and Mrs. Mary Ann Knight, piano professors at Shorter College. Erika continued her music education studying classical piano performance and music education in voice at Shorter College in Rome, GA. Erika has worked as a church pianist at Lindale Baptist Church and Calhoun First Presbyterian Church and has performed extensively over the years. Erika’s true love is teaching. She has over 20 years of experience teaching students of all ages. She emphasizes a foundation in classical repertoire but also teaches other genres, including musicals, hymnals and popular music. Erica teaches all skill levels, from beginner to advanced.
