Joshwa Refec is a musician and educator from Buford, GA. He started with music in 2007 when he first laid his hands on the piano keys, and by 2013, he delved into the world of guitar. Josh's teaching experience was furthered through volunteering at a local church as a band coordinator. Through mentoring student-comprised bands, he honed his skills in music education and performance, discovering his passion for teaching.It was this passion that prompted his transformative academic journey through Berklee College of Music. Graduating magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Music in 2023, he explored the art of piano, guided by esteemed pianist Laszlo Gardony. Throughout his time at school, he cultivated proficiency in music theory, composition, and performance techniques, offering a well-rounded and comprehensive approach to teaching. Specializing in jazz piano, Josh also has experience in the styles of pop, rock, Christian contemporary, gospel, blues, and R&B, as well as experience on guitar in the genres of blues, Christian contemporary, rock, and pop.Josh's main goal through teaching is to foster a nurturing and inspiring learning environment that encourages creativity and a lifelong love for music in each of his students. Even if they do not pursue music full-time, the skills and knowledge gained through music lessons are invaluable and applicable to any number of career paths. The ability to help students grow both on and off the band stand is what fuels Josh's enthusiasm for music education.
