Miss Sun Min holds Bachelor of music degrees in piano performance and music education from the University of Georgia. Before starting her teaching career, Sun Min has performed in Carnegie Hall as a Georgia state winner of the International Hymn Festival Competition in 2007. While a student at UGA studying under Dr. Martha Thomas, she received excellent ratings from the GMTA and GMEA statewide piano competitions. In 2008, she won first prize in the Atlanta Music Club Undergraduate Piano Scholarship competition. Also in 2008, Sun Min won UGA Symphony Orchestra Concerto Competition and performed with the UGA Symphony Orchestra. In 2009, she was awarded Atlanta Steinway Society Misha Dichter Piano Scholarship, and in 2010, she was declared winner of Jan Fowler Cross Scholarship Competition and Erica Stoffel Murray Scholarship Competition. In Summer 2010, Sun Min was invited to study in the Piano Summer at New Paltz (NY), an international summer institute dedicated solely to piano music, under the artistic direction of pianist Vladimir Feltsman. Throughout her college, Sun Min has performed in piano master classes with many outstanding clinicians, including Joel Schoenhals, Liza Stepanova, world-renowned Gary Graffman, and Cliburn Gold Medallist Haochen Zhang. Most recently, Sun Min has served as Director of Piano for three years at Savannah Arts Academy; performing and visual arts high school in Savannah, GA. Miss Sun Min’s philosophy of music education believes that everyone is naturally musicians. She wants to help her students to discover their musical talents through playing piano, and learn to find enjoyment in developing their skills.
